Rachel & Taylor’s Wedding at Truss Cleveland
A wedding-day moment above Ohio City, with Cleveland as the backdrop.
We brought the garden indoors, and then we brought it up to the ceiling.
Nine stories above Ohio City, right across from the West Side Market, Truss gives your guests a view of Cleveland most people have never seen: the clock tower, the downtown skyline, and Lake Erie, all at once. The view is simply amazing. For Rachel and Taylor, it was the perfect backdrop for a wedding full of texture, flavor, and fun.
This is the final stop in my Cleveland Downtown Shortlist, and I saved one of my favorite views for last. Take the 3D tour, then let me show you why.
Modern Space, Only-in-Cleveland View
The main hall is framed by black steel trusses with no columns, so nothing blocks sightlines and you have real freedom with your layout. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the city right into the room.
Then there’s the rooftop terrace. I’ve seen guests step out onto it on a wedding night, and the reaction never gets old. The phones come out every time.
What I love most about Truss: the staff, the food, and the view. All three are outstanding.
Modern architecture, an open layout, and a view that becomes part of the celebration.
Traditional or modern? Truss leans modern, which makes it a beautiful canvas for both. Classic candlelight and lush florals soften the steel; sleek lines and a bold palette let the architecture shine.
Rachel and Taylor’s Garden-to-Ceiling Reception
Rachel and Taylor held both their ceremony and reception at Truss, the centerpiece of a wedding weekend that began with a rehearsal dinner at Marble Room.

Their reception featured a full hanging greenery installation with cascading white blooms, towering tree centerpieces, and round tables linked together into one striking shape down the center of the room, dressed in sage and burlap. Toile-draped rounds and natural wood farm tables filled out the space, all glowing with fluted glass and candlelight. Rustic texture, modern polish, and a view to match.
Guests toasted with the couple’s signature cocktails, an Espresso Martini and a Woodland Old Fashioned with bourbon and maple, as the skyline lit up outside.
A continuous shuttle ran between Truss and the Hilton all evening, so guests could come and go easily. And when the reception wrapped, the party carried on at Bar 32.
Janet’s Insider Tip: If your guests are staying downtown, a continuous shuttle is worth every penny. Nobody worries about driving or parking, and everyone arrives relaxed and ready to celebrate.
Why I Appreciate Truss’s Inclusive Packages
One of the things I appreciate about Truss is how much is coordinated through the venue. Its in-house culinary team, bar, and service staff work together, and the published wedding inclusions cover many essentials, including tables, chairs, standard linens, and tableware.
That gives us a useful starting point for the budget and lets us focus on the details that make your celebration personal.
For Rachel and Taylor, those details included the hanging garden, textured linens, and signature cocktails. Confirm your package inclusions, ceremony fees, upgrades, and custom rentals before finalizing the design.
More Celebrations at Truss
Truss isn’t just for weddings. I planned the very first event ever held here, an NBA opening party for FLOH Vodka, Cleveland’s own “caviar of vodka,” the night the venue opened.
I’ve also planned the Cleveland Foundation’s holiday party at Truss two years in a row: one year all silver and gold, the next a winter wonderland, with an a cappella quartet singing through the party.
And I’m already planning a summer 2027 wedding here. I can’t wait to see that terrace on a warm August night.
What to Know Before You Book
For guest lists over 220, my recommendation is to explore an off-site ceremony. In my experience, that gives us more flexibility for the indoor weather backup.
Bookings go through the Truss events team via the inquiry form on trusscleveland.com.
What to Ask During Your Tour
What’s included in each package for food, bar, and service?
How is the terrace used for ceremonies, cocktails, and photos?
What is the rain plan, and how does it change with our guest count?
What are the setup and teardown times?
Where do guests park, and can a shuttle drop off at the door?
What are the approved attachment points, installation requirements, and access times for overhead décor?
Still Narrowing Down Your Cleveland Venue List?
My Cleveland Downtown Shortlist brings the venues in this series together so you can compare your favorites and decide which ones to visit in person.
My Final Take
A garden on the ceiling. Signature cocktails as the skyline lit up. A shuttle that kept the party moving all night.
Rachel and Taylor’s wedding showed what I love about Truss: an amazing view, outstanding food and service, and inclusive packages that give us a strong foundation for a personal celebration.
If you’re planning a wedding at Truss, I’d love to help you bring every layer together—from the design overhead to the guest experience throughout the evening.
