Downtown Cleveland Wedding Venues in 3D: Six Places I Love as a Planner
Northeast Ohio Venue Guides · October 2026 · By Janet Abbey, Sterling Event Services
A grand staircase, beautiful architecture, and a celebration that feels unmistakably Cleveland.
After more than 700 celebrations, I have favorites. This October, I'm sharing six of them.
Four are in downtown Cleveland. Truss is just across the river in Ohio City, and Gordon Green is a little farther west in Gordon Square. Each offers something different, and each is worth considering as you plan a Cleveland wedding.
We'll start downtown, then cross the river later in the month for Truss and Gordon Green.
Throughout October, I'll take you inside each venue on Sterling Event Services' social media. I'll share a 3D tour, stories from weddings and events I've planned there, and the details I notice as a planner. I'll publish the individual venue guides here on the website as the series unfolds.
Some things you can see in a 3D tour. Others, like the way a team handles a surprise or how a whole weekend feels for your guests, you only learn by being there.
For now, consider this your introduction. Which one feels like you?
The Six Venues at a Glance
Why I Love Planning Weddings in Cleveland
A Cleveland wedding can feel grand and historic, sleek and modern, or intimate and full of character. You can make an entrance beneath stained glass, watch the skyline light up behind your guests, or bring your family together for a full weekend at a downtown hotel.
The setting is only part of what makes a venue right. I also think about where guests will arrive, how they'll move from ceremony to cocktails to dinner, where your wedding party will gather, and how everyone will get home at the end of the night.
Here's what draws me to each of these six places.
The Old Courthouse: The Entrance
By day, it's a courthouse. On a wedding weekend, it becomes one of the most memorable celebration spaces in Cleveland.
The Old Courthouse has a grand staircase, stained glass, marble, murals, and ornate stonework. There's so much beauty already in the room that you can let the architecture take the lead and be thoughtful about where you add décor.
At the Old Courthouse, the architecture sets the tone before you add a single flower.
Why I love it: It is so grand and so beautiful. Standing inside, you could imagine you're somewhere in Europe, but you're right in downtown Cleveland. And the pictures… oh my, the pictures. Every staircase, balcony, and archway offers another place to capture the day.
A celebration I remember: Becca and Jake's wedding was simple elegance at its best. With a setting this grand, they didn't need to add much. The architecture did the talking, and every detail they chose felt intentional. I still remember her grandfather's message at their guest message station, one I'm sure they'll cherish for years to come, and a dance floor that stayed packed all night.
What I'd look for on the tour: Follow the guest experience beyond the staircase. Where will people gather before the ceremony, and how will the evening flow into cocktails and dinner? Guests go through a metal detector on arrival, so I'd build time for that into the schedule.
Marble Room: The Drama
Marble Room is an experience from the moment you walk through the doors. Inside a former bank on Euclid Avenue, it pairs old-world charm with modern touches: soaring ceilings, chandeliers, wonderful food, and attentive service.
I especially love its private spaces for couples who want an intimate wedding or an unforgettable rehearsal dinner. A smaller guest list can still have a spectacular setting.
A smaller celebration can still have a spectacular setting.
Why I love it: The service, the grandeur, the food… it all sets the tone. Then there's the Vault, a private space inside the building's original bank vault. If you're truly looking for something special and unique, this is the place.
A celebration I remember I've planned Richard's 80th birthday here, complete with a surprise opera from three singing waiters, plus a stunning scarlet-and-gray graduation party that reunited family, and a rehearsal dinner that began an entire wedding weekend. And right now, I'm planning a December wedding in the Vault.
What I'd look for on the tour: Focus on the specific space you would book. Ask how your guest count, meal, and plans for celebrating would fit there. And don't leave without seeing the Vault.
Hilton Cleveland Downtown: The Wedding Weekend
Some of my favorite weddings aren't one event. They're a whole weekend.
For Rachel and Taylor, the celebration began with a rehearsal dinner at Marble Room. Their wedding followed at Truss, then guests gathered for an after-party at Bar 32, the Hilton's rooftop bar. The next morning, everyone met at the Shoreby Club for brunch. What a weekend!
The Hilton was home base. With a 50-room block, guests had a place to settle in between celebrations, and the after-party was just an elevator ride away when they returned. The Hilton team was wonderful to work with from our first planning conversation through the final goodbye.
Bar 32 inside Hilton Cleveland Downtown
Why I love it: A wedding weekend has a lot of moving parts. When guests have a shared home base, the time between events becomes part of the celebration, too.
A celebration I remember: The Hilton can also bring everything together under one roof. For Jacques and Lleya, it hosted both their reception and their guests' stay. With more than 700 guests, it was the largest wedding I've ever planned, complete with a song-filled toast from the bride's mother, a Rock Hall board member, and a few quiet escapes through the hotel's underground hallways.
What I'd look for on the tour: Think beyond the ballroom. Look at the lobby, guest rooms, and places where people might gather between events. If you're planning a full weekend, talk about your room block early.
Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower: The Team
The Marriott puts your wedding beside Public Square, with downtown architecture and photo locations steps away. It's a wonderful location, but the people who work there are what I remember most.
Dan and George’s celebration in the St. Clair Ballroom, where thoughtful details and a caring team came together.
Why I love it: The Marriott team truly cares, and they're always willing to go the extra mile. That's the kind of care you can't see on a tour, but you feel it on a wedding day.
A celebration I remember: At Emily and Matt's wedding, I slipped out late in the night and came back with McDonald's burgers and fries in a chafing dish. The bride and groom were thrilled! I've also loved celebrating Sammi and Josh here. But Dan and George's wedding in the St. Clair Ballroom gave me a moment I'll never forget. In the middle of the celebration, we needed new speakers delivered. Cal, who has been with the Marriott for more than 30 years, personally guided our vendor through the kitchen and back hallways so the delivery wouldn't interrupt a thing. Guests never knew.
What I'd look for on the tour: Picture the whole schedule, from getting ready and portraits to the last dance and the next morning's goodbyes. Ask how the hotel and ballroom teams will help the day flow.
Truss: The View
Truss joins the series later in October. Watch for its 3D tour and full guide.
Across from the West Side Market in Ohio City, Truss gives guests a striking view of the market clock tower, downtown skyline, and Lake Erie. Black steel trusses frame the event space without columns interrupting the room, while the terrace brings the city into the celebration.
Across the river in Ohio City, Truss makes Cleveland’s skyline part of the celebration.
Why I love it: Guests get that wonderful "look where we are" feeling. The setting is modern, but the view could only be Cleveland. I've seen guests step onto that terrace on a wedding night, and their reaction never gets old.
A celebration I remember: Rachel and Taylor's wedding brought that view to life for their guests. Truss shines beyond weddings, too. The Cleveland Foundation's holiday celebration, complete with an a cappella quartet, showed how well the space works for a festive evening.
What I'd look for on the tour: Start at the guest entrance and travel up to the event space. Then picture cocktails, dinner, dancing, and time on the terrace. Ask how the plan would change if the weather does.
Gordon Green: The Possibilities
Gordon Green joins the series later in October. Watch for its 3D tour and full guide.
Gordon Green sits in the Gordon Square neighborhood, inside a restored historic building with two floors and a private courtyard. It has warmth and character, while its clean look leaves room for a couple's own style.
Sophia and Nick chose an indoor ceremony, filled with personal touches and overflowing love.
Why I love it: Gordon Green has the welcoming feeling of a celebration at home, with the space and team to host a wedding. The staff's care throughout planning carries into the day itself.
It also gives couples real choices for the ceremony. I've had one couple choose the indoor space from the start because they wanted weather off their minds. Others have chosen the courtyard, knowing they had an indoor option if they needed it.
A celebration I remember: Sophia and Nick's wedding was clean, modern, and absolutely stunning. It landed in the middle of mayfly season, so Sophia chose a ceremony indoors on the lower level, and it was beautiful. The pictures tell it all: every personal touch, and a love that was simply overflowing.
What I'd look for on the tour: Look at both ceremony spaces and picture your day in each one. Then follow the route guests would take between them. A layout should feel easy on the wedding day, not just look beautiful in photos.
How to Watch a 3D Tour Like a Planner
When each tour is released, start at the entrance, not at the prettiest room.
Imagine you're a guest arriving for the first time. Is it clear where to go? Then move through the day in order: ceremony, cocktails, dinner, dancing, and departure. Notice where people will gather, how far they'll travel between spaces, and what would change if it rains.
A 3D tour helps you decide which venues deserve a visit. When you tour in person, bring your guest count, your priorities, and questions about how the space will work for your wedding.
Questions Couples Ask Me About Cleveland Wedding Venues
Can you really get married at the Old Courthouse?
Yes. It's a working courthouse during the week, and its grand spaces are available for weddings on weekends. It books early, so start the conversation well ahead of your date.
Which of these venues works best for guests traveling from out of town?
The Hilton and the Marriott both let guests stay where they celebrate. Even when the wedding itself is elsewhere, a downtown hotel makes a wonderful home base for the whole weekend.
Which venue has the best city view?
For skyline and lake views, Truss is hard to beat. Its terrace looks right at the West Side Market clock tower and downtown Cleveland.
What if I want an outdoor ceremony but I'm worried about the weather?
Gordon Green's courtyard is a lovely outdoor option with an indoor space ready as a backup. Whatever venue you choose, make sure your rain plan is one you'd still be happy with.
Do I need a planner for a historic or all-inclusive venue?
Every venue works differently. Some include catering, rentals, and staffing, while others ask you to bring in more yourself. A planner who knows these spaces can help you understand the true cost and keep the day running smoothly.
